We are recruiting for a Sales Executive to join our Sales Team to sell across multi-channel independents within the Outdoor, Sports, Garden and Hardware sector for the Scotland and Ireland region.

Responsibilities

SALES EXECUTIVE JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Function:

To ensure business growth through defined accounts within an agreed geographical area and to encourage further growth through the development of knowledge of retail staff.

Main Job Objectives:

To attain sales targets and objectives for the sales area given in accordance with company requirements and within budgeted costs.

To ensure customers are fully informed about the brands supplied by Burton McCall.

Main Responsibilities:

To attain sales targets by product area, on a quarterly and annual basis.

To attain distribution targets by product area, on a quarterly and annual basis to ensure the company’s “product mix” objectives are achieved.

To meet the minimum quantity requirement of promotional sales, on a quarterly basis.

To acquire and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the company’s product ranges and their application.

To gain a working knowledge of competitive products and use it to advantage.

To plan coverage of the sales area in the most cost-effective manner.

Ensure that current customers receive the correct “Face to Face” contact and telesales support where appropriate.

Individual calls are to be thoroughly planned to ensure achievement of the company’s turnover and distribution objectives.

Ensure potential new accounts are targeted and opened within an agreed time frame.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records.

Ensure the journey plan for the sales area is continually revised as relevant and in conjunction with their line manager/sales office.

Present the company’s product ranges in a positive and effective manner and to properly illustrate the key features and consumer benefits.

Ensure that the company’s products are effectively displayed at the point of sale and that full and proper use is made of all display units, advertising and display material.

To assist their line manager in the implementation of retail staff training programmes.

To implement similar programmes for those independents on the sales executive’s own area.

To maintain an exemplary standard of administration and ensure all “Reports” are accurate and timely:

Orders are to be emailed or phoned through to the office on a daily basis.

Reports to be emailed to the office on a weekly basis.

To attend all sales meetings, company organised training sessions or courses and exhibitions.

To liaise where appropriate with other relevant company personnel to ensure an exemplary standard of customer service is continuously maintained.

To continually develop oneself as a professional sales person through self-analysis, talking and listening to others, reading and practise.

To carry out any other job-related duties which may be requested from time to time by their line manager.

Skills/Experience

The ideal candidate will be well educated, have first-class planning and presentation skills, enthusiasm, initiative, confidence and the drive to succeed in a competitive environment.

Previous selling experience of an extensive range of products is essential. You will also possess new business development and sales negotiation experience and ideally be based in the Glasgow or Edinburgh area.
