Ryan Gellert – Patagonia
As General Manager – EMEA for Patagonia, Ryan Gellert oversees all sales, marketing, sustainability and operational initiatives for the brand, throughout the region.
Based at the European Headquarters in Amsterdam, Ryan leads a team who live and breathe the Patagonia mission statement to build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm and use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis. An avid climber and backcountry snowboarder, Ryan has climbed and ridden throughout Asia, Europe, North America, Australia, the Middle East and South Africa. Ryan has extensive experience working with direct action environmental groups, serving on the boards of the Access Fund and Protect Our Winters.
Prior to joining Patagonia, Ryan spent 15 years at Black Diamond Equipment, where he held a number of roles including Brand President, VP of Supply Chain Management and Managing Director of Black Diamond Asia. Ryan holds a J.D. from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah; an M.B.A. from Florida Institute of Technology; and a B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
Liz McMahon – Madison Muir Group
Liz McMahon is Managing Director of the Madison Muir Group – strategic advisors on brand governance, marketing and partnership programmes. She also is a Non-Executive Director on the London 2017 Athletic and Para-Athletic World Championships board and sits on the Sport Policy Task Force of Pro Bono Economics. She was a Non-Executive Director for the Olympic Park Legacy Company/London Legacy Development Corporation and the Sport & Recreation Alliance.
Prior to forming the Madison Muir Group in 2009, Liz was Executive Director, Chief Marketing Officer for Treasury & Investor Services at J.P. Morgan, Director Global Consumer Investments at Citigroup and Director of Marketing Services at the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland. She also headed International Marketing for the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games Bid.
Working in the USA with 3M, she managed global Corporate Marketing Communications and activated their 1988 and 1992 worldwide Olympic sponsorships. Liz also held executive marketing positions in New York with Nabisco and Chase Bank. A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with an honours degree in Political Science, Liz did advanced degree work in marketing & finance at New York University Stern School of Business.
Nick Bullock is a nomadic writer and climber with opinion, imagination and an open mind. He enjoys reading Cormac McCarthy, poetry, The Guardian and participating in all aspects of climbing – winter mixed, Alpine, ice, rock and expedition. He generally dislikes things ending with ‘ism’.
