Industry veteran joins The Outdoor Guide team

Freelance writer John Traynor has joined the team at The Outdoor Guide (TOG) as Editor.

TOG is a free online resource, co-founded by outdoor personality and TV presenter Julia Bradbury and her sister Gina, that brings together information for walks all around the UK and Europe. TOG also has a section dedicated to creating a more accessible countryside for wheelchair users and those with compromised mobility – AccessTOG.

The primary framework of the website is to structure information around a specific walking route to create a curated page of relevant knowledge regarding the area of the walk. For example, the nearest train station, a place to park, stay, eat and have a pint to round off the day.

It also recommends outdoor clothing, footwear, gear and gadgets that might be useful along the way. This is an area planned for expansion in response to consumer demand. Users can click through to a Partner page for each featured place or item and then continue to each partner’s own site.

John Traynor said, “It’s 46 years since I started my journey in the outdoor industries as a Saturday sales guy at LD Mountain Centre. A lot has changed since then and I’m delighted to be joining a young, dynamic team who are focused on developing outdoor market opportunities for all.”

TOG managing director Gina Bradbury-Fox added, “It’s great to have John on board. His wide knowledge and keen insights will help extend the TOG reach even further. We are living in exciting times and the team is focused on leading the way in genuine consumer engagement and participation in life outdoors.”
