National Camping and Caravanning Week (NCCW) is The Camping and Caravanning Club’s annual celebration of all things camping. This year’s event runs from 28 May through to the 3 June with the goal to get people walking.
The primary aim of the campaign is to help raise the profile of the Club and increase awareness of camping in all its forms to a non-member audience. It achieves this with a mix of media outreach, events and exciting competitions.
Since the first event in 2001, the week has seen both world-firsts and records set. Activities have included the most people wearing paper crowns at any one time to celebrate NCCW 2012 which coincided with the Golden Jubilee and a camp out by the Club President and staff members overnight on top of London’s O2 arena to start NCCW 2016.
NCCW 2018 has a walking theme; readers of the Club magazine, Camping & Caravanning, have listed this as the top activity they enjoy when out touring. Club President Julia Bradbury will celebrate the joys of walking and learn top tips from members of the Club’s Mountain Activity Section at an event in the Peak District just before the start of the week.
Andrew Robson, PR and Communications Executive at the Club, said: “The Club is reaching out to new audiences during NCCW 2018 with a fabulous competition to win a prize car and caravan together worth over £34,000, a prize that showcases the joys of modern camping.
“However, we’re always keen to work with fellow OIA members on other partnership activity to promote the outdoor industry more widely.”
OIA members interested in engaging with the Club to run competitions and benefit from wider cross promotion in the media and in e-News to the Club’s member and non-member database email: email@example.com.
