The Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) has teamed up with the organisers of the Original Mountain Marathon (OMM) for a special event during the OutDoor trade show in Friedrichshafen next month. The OMM 2012 will be officially launched on the OIA stand (hall B5, stand 406) at 3pm on Saturday 14 July, when the first details of this year’s race will be revealed to the outdoor industry.
During the show in the lead up to the launch, the OIA is challenging visitors to take part in a ‘mini OMM’ for a chance win one of 10 OMM rucksacks. Using race cards collected from the OIA stand, competitors will have to visit a series of checkpoints around the show (on OIA member stands) and return them to be in with a chance of winning a prize. The prize-winners will be drawn during the OMM 2012 launch event.
Andy Williams of OMM comments:
“OMM is delighted to be working with the OIA. The association has been reinvigorated recently and is leading on behalf of the industry on many fronts. The challenge ahead for the OIA is still a big one and there’s a nice parallel with what will be facing competitors on the OMM 2012, so teaming up for this launch at OutDoor made a lot of sense to us.”
Andrew Denton, chief executive of the OIA, adds:
“The Original Mountain Marathon has a fantastic heritage and reputation that extends far beyond its UK base. It is an event that has vision, is extremely authentic, and is a British success story, all words I would like more people to use when describing the OIA. We look forward to revealing more about OMM 2012 on our stand and meeting many existing and potential association members during OutDoor.”
Beyond the launch of OMM 2012, the OIA will offer a range of services during OutDoor, designed to be of particular assistance to small businesses, but available to all association members at the show.
The stand will incorporate free bookable meeting space and WiFi access, along with refreshments and a baggage drop facility. Chief executive Andrew Denton and marketing and communications manager Terry Stephenson will both attend the show and will be available to meet representatives from UK outdoor businesses.
