KEEN Visit Room to Read project in Nepal with Jasper Doest

This Autumn, KEEN Footwear were excited to work with ethical Himalayan brand Sherpa for a unique collaboration, the Innate LTD project. Values are woven into the soul of this scheme, but in sum fifteen Euros from the sale of every pair of these stunning travel boots will be donated to the charity Room to Read®, an organisation that seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.

With funds allocated to Room to Read’s literacy program in the Himalayan region and the Tarai flatlands, KEEN aspire to help transform the lives of children across Nepal by contributing to be a catalyst for change in the educational landscape in this Country.  The proceeds of the sale of approximately three pairs of KEEN Innate x Sherpa Adventure Gear shoes will enable one child to read and write for a year and the sales of twenty-five pairs will fund a child to be supported through secondary school for an entire year.

KEEN and Sherpa Adventure Gear seek to unlock a better future for Nepalese children, with an ultimate goal of teaching 1000 children to read and write for one year.  A full press release with more details follows.

As part of the project, KEEN has just returned from visiting the Room to Read® School in Nuwakot, Nepal, with award-winning photographer and conservationist Jasper Doest, where they have been engaging in learning activities and getting to know some of the students and local community who will benefit from this scheme. This visit has been captured in a series of photo journals and compelling short video documentaries.

About the KEEN & Sherpa Collaboration

Following the debut of their Innate travel shoe in Spring 19, KEEN is proud to join forces with esteemed travel apparel brand Sherpa Adventure Gear, putting principles into motion as they present a new edition for FW19, the KEEN Innate x Sherpa. With both brands sharing an affinity to take action, give back and create a better future for communities in a meaningful and immediate way, values are woven into the soul of this unique collaboration, with €15 being donated from the sale of every shoe to charity Room to Read®.

Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.
