Following on from its 2nd Life donation scheme, which donated unwanted but good quality outdoor gear to the homeless, Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports has teamed up with Smartwool to put warm, quality outdoor socks on the feet of as many homeless people in Manchester and London as they can this Christmas.
Says Marketing Director Mark Brigham, “The Buy One Gift One scheme was inspired by a customer coming into one of our stores to buy a pair of socks for a homeless person they’d just seen. We felt we should be doing more to help this winter, given the challenging year everyone has been through. I’m grateful to Smartwool who are supporting us with the campaign and to all our customers who are kindly supporting this by buying Smartwool socks. We hope to donate over 500 pairs of socks whilst raising awareness of homelessness at this time of year.”
With an estimated 320,000* people currently homeless in the UK and the numbers increasing, this winter is set to be especially tough following a very difficult year and with temperatures dropping, staying warm is always a challenge.
The ‘Buy One Gift One’ campaign pledges that for every pair of Smartwool socks bought online between the 1st and 24thDecember, Ellis Brigham will match it by donating a pair to the homeless charities they support:
